About Unit Conversion
Unit conversion is a process in which a quantity is expressed in various units while keeping its value constant. Unit conversion is a constant need in various fields such as science, engineering, as well as in daily life.
Metric vs. Imperial
Most of the world uses the metric system (metres, kilograms, litres), while the United States primarily uses the imperial system (feet, pounds, gallons). This converter handles both seamlessly.
Supported Categories
- Length (km, mi, ft, in, cm, mm…)

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert between units?
To convert between units, first, select a category from the tab bar at the top of the page. Then, select a unit to convert from on the left-hand dropdown menu and a unit to convert to on the right. Enter a value in either box, and the other box will be filled in instantly. To reverse the conversion, click the double arrow button in the middle.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, select "Temperature" from the tab bar, then "Celsius" from the left dropdown. The result appears at once. As a mental shortcut, simply multiply the Celsius reading by 1.8, then add 32.
How many pounds are in a kilogram?
One kilogram is equivalent to about 2.20462 pounds. To convert from kilograms to pounds, one pound is equivalent to about 0.453592 kilograms. You can use the Weight tab. Select 'Kilograms' as the 'From' unit and 'Pounds' as the 'To' unit. Then enter your value. You will immediately get an exact result. Alternatively, you can use the reference table below. This table shows all weight unit conversions of your entered value at once.
What does the reference table at the bottom show?
The reference table at the bottom shows your entered value converted to every single unit in the current category simultaneously. This table will change immediately as you enter your value. This table can be helpful if you want to compare your measurement to several units at once. For example, you may want to compare your height in metres, centimetres, inches, yards, and miles all at once. This reference table will display all of those conversions simultaneously.
How accurate are the conversions?
Our conversions are very accurate. We use exact conversion factors. For example, 1 inch = 0.0254 metres exactly. This was specified by international agreement in 1959. For temperature, we use precise mathematical formulas. Our answers are given to 10 significant figures. Mach numbers are an exception. Mach numbers depend on altitude and temperature. Mach numbers are therefore not precisely known.
