Professional Barcode Studio
Generate, customize, and download 1D barcodes instantly. No sign-up, no watermarks.
What Is This Tool?
The HandleKit Barcode Studio is a free, browser-based generator that lets you create scannable 1D barcodes in seconds. It supports the most widely used industry formats—Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, and UPC-A—for shipping, retail, and inventory management.
Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server, and the resulting image is yours to download and use freely—no watermarks, no sign-up, no limits.
Which Format Should I Use?
Use Code 128 for general-purpose alphanumeric data like shipping labels and warehouse tracking. Choose EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products. If you need a website link or more data in a square format, use our dedicated QR Generator Tool.
Tips for Reliable Scanning
Always use high contrast between the barcode and background—dark bars on a light surface work best. Make sure the barcode has enough quiet zone (blank space around it), and test the output with a real scanner before printing at scale.
Supported Barcode Formats
- Code 128: The most versatile 1D barcode. Supports full ASCII, compact encoding, and is ideal for logistics, shipping, and internal tracking.
- Code 39: A widely supported legacy format used in automotive, defense, and healthcare industries. Encodes uppercase letters, digits, and a few special characters.
- EAN-13: The global retail standard for product identification. Requires exactly 13 numeric digits (including check digit).
- UPC-A: The North American retail standard. Requires exactly 12 numeric digits. Used on virtually all consumer products sold in the US and Canada.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this barcode generator really free?
Yes—completely free with no limits, no watermarks, and no sign-up. Generate as many barcodes as you need.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser using the JsBarcode library. Your data never leaves your device.
Can I use the barcodes commercially?
Yes. The generated images are yours to use however you want—for products, labels, inventory, shipping, or any other purpose. No attribution required.
Why does my EAN-13 or UPC barcode show an error?
EAN-13 requires exactly 13 digits and UPC-A requires exactly 12 digits—both must be numeric only. If your data contains letters or is the wrong length, the generator will show a helpful error message. Switch to Code 128 for alphanumeric data.
What image format does this tool export?
Barcodes are downloaded as PNG files at the scale you select. The download includes a solid background color, so the image is ready to print or embed without any transparency issues.
